Hey everybody! I haven't written a blog in a while (and the last one was a desperate attention grab, lol at that), and have wanted to write one. There are many factors going into this list, not only the looks of the place. How the place mattered in the plot and how the challenges were in character and entertaining matter in my books, also. Without further ado, let's get into the list.
10. Toronto, Ontario, Canada
A great way to start off a ranking of the locations is with the first one. Considering the show is made in Canada, I found one of the most popular areas in Canada would be a great place to start. This location isn't good just because it's the first one, though. The challenge fit very well with the location and was entertaining. Stairs or Scares was a great way to introduce Either/Or, also.
9. Transylvania, Romania
Being honest, I wasn't a very big fan of the episode this location was from. I find the fashion bloggers were worn out by then and that their elimination was fine, and that many characters felt ignored in the process. However, a mediocre episode doesn't take away from a good location! The location looked very nice, on top of being a great setup for the Goths. The challenge was also one of the most fun to watch during the first half of the season.
8. Dubai, United Arab Emirates
To me, this is one of the best looking locations in the entire series, and one of the best looking places in the real world. Going into Burj Al Arab is something I thought would only be dreams during TDWT. One of the places I want to visit the most in the world in my favorite show? Dreams can come true <3
7. Paris, France
Paris was a no brainer when it came to a place to go to in Ridonculous Race. One of the 3 fashion capitals of the world would be a perfect place to have a fashion challenge, am I right? I can't explain enough how funny the first challenge was. The second challenge was a bit of a let down, to be honest. I don't think huge rolling cheese wheels would be the way Paris would want to be viewed. The catacombs were great though, and showed how funny the goths can be.
6. New York City, New York, United States
Speaking of fashion capitals, here's the second! (On a side note, the third one should really be a location in the next season). Living 45 minutes outside of NYC, I can say it was portrayed accurately. JFK airport looks exactly like it does in real life. This was a perfect location for a finale. I would put it higher, but I've personally known the area and it wasn't as exacting as the rest because I wasn't experiencing something new.
5. Nassau, Bahamas
Probably one of the most fitting challenges for a location. Sure, it could fit in any beach, but the Bahamas defines the beach to me. Also loses points personally for being an area I have visited, although originally higher because my visit to it was recently.
4. Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Ridonculous Race shouldn't have anyone under 18. Then we could of had gambling in Las Vegas. Oh well, I shouldn't of had my hopes high for it. This location had the best Either/Or in the series, in my opinion. The car race opened up many amazing things, including Sisters vs Cadets and a perfect opportunity for Geoff and Brody screentime. The magician trick also had many jokes set by the challenge, including ones from the Daters. The magician trick also set up the reversal role in the Best Friends plot, but is that a positive?
3. Acapulco, Mexico
One of the most culutural locations in Ridonculous Race. The decorations in the background really set the mood as an interesting location. The pepper challenge really brought some new depth to the characters, and opened up room for interaction (something a great challenge should do). Many last minute character depth was added due to this location/challenge, which in my eyes makes it one of the best.
2. Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
The beans challenge was priceless. Sure, did it open up burp/fart humor? Yeah, but it also opened up room for interaction and jokes at the same time. The location wasn't the best, but it wasn't a bad one. The bull challenge could of opened some godplaying, but most of it was funny (Crimson not moving on the bull was one of the funniest things in the series).
1. Hawaii, United States
To me, this location is automatically number one. Hawaii, on top of being one of the best looking and having an interesting challenge, was the one location that played a huge role in the plot, and tied into a main character's storyline. Hawaii was also the only location to be in two episodes that were not back to back. The cursed hawaiian doll was funny and interesting, and made this location the number one location in Ridonculous Race, and the most interesting locations in the around the world seasons.
