DISCLAIMER (whatever that means): I DO NOT KNOW IF EPISODE 7 AND BEYOND HAS BEEN RELEASED BY CARTOON NETWORK. IF SO, I HAVE NOT SEEN THEM. THIS BLOG HAS MY PREDICTIONS FOR THE NEXT WEEK. IF I AM CORRECT ABOUT THEM, IT IS PURELY COINCIDENTAL. AGAIN, I SWEAR ON MY LIFE THAT AT THE TIME OF THIS BLOG WRITING I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY EPISODE BEYOND EPISODE 6, AND I AM ONLY SPECULATING. PLEASE DON'T KILL ME.
So I actually watched all the week 1 episodes on demand rather on TV. I watched it last Sunday (9/6), so I don't really remember the episodes too well. It's not that I didn't want to watch the episodes at 5:00, it's because I HAVE A LIFE. I HAVE THINGS TO DO AT 5 O'CLOCK. WHO AIRS SHOWS AT 5 ANYWAY?!?
Anyway, insatead of reviewing episodes, I'll be reviewing characters. This is a quick reflection with a few sentences per contestants.
I bet they will win. They have the best chance of development, in my opinion. It's so obvious that Carrie and Devin will hook-up (that's not a spoiler, I don't know for sure, but come on. It's pretty obvious.). Anyway, Devin sorta sucks, and he's nothing in terms of a character without Carrie. Even Trent had more of a character. However, Carrie is a great character. Her hiar is weird though. I'm excitied to see what happens between them, and I BETTER GET MY SHELLEY CAMEO!!! I bet Shelley is just a redrawn Sadie.
Daughter & Mom
Honestly it took me a while to memorize everybody's names, and these were probably the hardest. Nobody actually mentions Kelly's name. Does Kelly even talk to anybody besides Taylor? UGH, IT'S TDPI ALL OVER AGAIN. Anyway, Taylor has the same voice as Amy/Samey, and it's nice having a different tone with that voice. They're probably getting kicked out in week 2 (again, not spoilers, I haven't seen any week 2 episodes if they have been put online, I'm PURELY GUESSING.) I like their little subplot, but I hope this week Kelly becomes more of a character this week.
Anyone else remember that show? Anyway, I originally liked Emma, but now she's getting annoying. However, her subplot is obvious: she'sgoing to learn to have fun like Kitty. I hope she falls in love, too. Kitty's fun. I like hearing a different voice of Stephanie Anne Mills. Emma almost sounds like Katie. Unfortunatly for Kitty, there's not many "hot guys" in the game like she wanted. What's she supposed to do, hook up with Mickey? I'd rather see Dwanye and Blainley. Come to think of it, both of those pairs would be interesting.
I always get mixed up between who's Crimson and who's Ennui. I was on dictionary.com doing homework and apparently Ennui means"a feeling of listlessness and dissatisfaction arising from a lack of occupation or excitement." Deep. I think they're going home in week 2. I don't think there's much of a subplot for them, unless Crimson transforms into a girly-girl like how Laurie transformed into a truck driver. That subplot could be great like Laurie's, or it could fail like Duncan's thing in All-Stars. I haven't decided yet. However, I must admit, I loved Ennui's lines in the catacombs to Mickey and Jay XD.
Reality TV Pros
I always thought it was "Reality TV BROS" until I started writing this blog. I was a little disappointed with the return of Owen and Noah. By that, I mean we don't see the complexity of their characters that were built up in the main series. I was hoping for some classic TDA-style Owen and some TDWT-style Noah. Now they're waaayyyy too stereotypical. Oh, and I love Noah's dry sarcasm, but he's straight-up suicidal this season. He's even more depressed that Crimson and Ennui. Owen hasn't done anything relevant yet. I hope we see some development soon, or these two characters are going down in my books, which is a shame because they've always been high up.
I didn't even know "adversity" was a word until this show. These guys kinda annoy me, but it's no big deal. I don't know whant to say about them, really. Anyone ship Mickitty? I'm still unsure about that. Jay doesn't have any personality yet, so I hope he develops.
Ryan is like Lightning 2.0 XD. I loved him in the France challenge, he's like classic Lightning without the annoyingness! Stepahnie is like LeShawna's skinny cousin. Wait a second: black people with common white names? I don't mean to be rude, but usually TV shows will stereotype with names like "LeShawna" and stuff. This happens in real life too with names like "Treyshaun" and "Sharkisha". I don't mind these names, but I don't understand what they mean. I have a black friend named Kevin. He's chill. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Ryan and Stephanie win, but I don't think they will. Come to think of it, besides the Best Friends, I can't think of ANYBODY who has a chance of winning. Oh, and I really hope that the ending won't be different in Canada and the U.S. That's lame. I want to find out who wins, it's fun. I don't want to stop at the final 3 and be like, "these people are gonna win no matter what anyway". That's what I liked about TDI. It's almost universal opinion that Owen won. To this day it's still up to debate about who truely won TDWT.
GREAT CHARACTERS. They have a shot at being the main antagonists, especially Josee. Jacques is just sorta there to be there. I like both, but I think Josee has a better chance of development. They will definitely make it far. My guess is 4th place.
Since when was Geoff a surfer? He's dating one, but I didn't know he is one. I bet Bridgette will make a cameo in the Australia episode. Brody's sorta stupid, but oh well. My problem with Geoff is the same with Owen and Noah. His charactaer is stereotypical now. I miss old Geoff who was willing to help Gwen and Harold. So far I'm very ashamed with the veterans' preformences.
Son & Father
I love Dwanye XD. They will make it far. I hope this week we will see more of the Carrie-Junior thing. Come to think of it, these two might be able to get to the finale. That would be sweet. I predict that Junior will hold a grudge against his father for something, and then they will make up by the end of the season when he realizes how great he is. One of the best options for character development in this season.
HANDS DOWN, MCARTHUR IS THE BEST TOTAL DRAMA CHARACTER EVER. MARRY ME, MCARTHUR. JO IS NOTHING COMPARED TO MCARTHUR. Sanders is okay.
They better learn to be friends, or we'll get wasted potiential. We got a hint of a truce in episode 5, and I hope that before they're eliminated they'll learn to love each other. If they don't, then the two of them will be forever shunned by the TD community.
I love Jen. I like how this season the characters aren't sadistic. Remember in TDAS when Courtney was willing to let Gwen and Zoey DIE?!?! I like how in episode 3 Tom and Jen show remorse to Dwanye and Junior when they realize that they almost killed them. Tom is a bit annoyinh, but Jen is a really good character so far. I doubt they'll make it past this week though, as they don't really have much chance of development.
I thought they would be the first ones out. They probably won't survive this week. Their subplot is still unknown, but I think it will involve Rock finally telling Spud to start doing some work. If this doesn't happen, then these characters will just be a waste. Dang, there's way to many characters this season, I'm getting bored of doing this reflection.
Probably the best characters for comic relief so far XD. I hope the karma godess curses Dwanye. This group gets my first week MVP award mostly due to episode 5. It was genius to have them eat the feast, and I died when Miles started crying! Greatly written characters, and thankfully the writers didn't take it ridiculously far with them. They knew their place.
Everybody loves them, but they're sorta meh for me. They're not bad, but they're not as good as some others (LIKE MCARTHUR. WHY CAN'T WE HAVE MORE CHARACTERS SAYING "POOP ON A BIRD" LIKE HER?!), Mary like didn't talk, does she really deserve her own page on the wiki? I loved their snorting at the end of episode 4 XD. I didn't think they would be eliminated when they did. I thought they would at least make it to week 2 or 3. Their elimination was pretty stupid.
What was the purpose of them. The writers were originally going to put in an old couple, and I would've much preferred that. Why is Leonard alive. OUT OF ALL THE TDPI CHARACTERS, WHY HIM? WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE HAD SUGAR AND HER COUSIN BOO-BOO OR SOMETHING. Tammy has a stupid voice.
"MY ARTIFICIAL KNEE!" Why couldln't have Pete lasted longer? I'll admit, they were annoying in episode 3 with all their laughing, but they were good in epiosde 1. Maybe it's a good thing they were eliminated early, because they were starting to become overused in France.
Stay tuned for my week 2 reflections!
