Salutations, Internet Surfers, I'm Ultrablud2. As you can see on the title, I have an opinion that many RR fans would disagree, and that opinion is that there's a team that ALMOST EVERYBODY is in love with, saying that they're funny, developed, sweet, badass, ect. when in reality, they're not even that spectacular to begin with.

What's that team you may ask?

Geoff crazy gurl

Nah, I'm kidding. It's The Goths.

First things first, It's not that I don't understand why The Goths are so popular. Trust me, I've read enough RR reviews to know that the reasons why RR fans LOVE The Goths are:

1) They're so dark and emotionless.

2) They say dark things.

3) Their relationship is unique from all the other relationships in both RR and TD. (they started dating 3 years prior to RR aka around the time TDI had been brodcasting.)

4) Their pet bunny, Loki.

5) Their designs.

6) Their interactions with Don and The Ice Dancers.

If you like The Goths for one, some, or all of the resons above, that's fine, all the power to ya. all I'm saying is that, aside from maybe their relationship (key word here is maybe), none of those reasons makes them interesting or complex for me, heck, if anything, those reasons just make them boring and kinda tedious for me. I mean let's go though some of their lines, shall we?

"This place could be an amusment park or a camp for kids."

Okay, Ennui, thanks for letting us know that.

"The other teams picked the fossil thing, so we didn't 'cause, whatever."

Thanks Crimson for telling us that. We NEVER would have figured out that one on our own by just seeing you guys walk away form the mine challange.

"Bright colours are for people who are trying to make up for the fact that they live sad, montonous lives"

Okay guys, we get it, you're goths. No need to hammer in this fa-

"Leaving Romania is tough, but leaving Romania to go to a tropical paradise full of sunshine and happiness? *sigh*"

"She only wears black, even if it's grass, it must be black grass"

"Bats are the most beautiful creatures on earth, I had set them free."

Okay, before I start to sound like I'm biased, I suppose I should explain why I think so many people think The Goths are so called "funny".

The Goths are a example of something called Anti-humor. A type of humor where someone is doing or saying something that is purposely mundane or boring, but because the audience were expecting something funny and instead got the opposite of it, the irony of that itself is funny.

That's the only reason I can think of why anyone would even remotely consider The Goths funny. Otherwise, The Goths are as funny as a pair of gargoyles with gothic makeup and clothes.

Another thing that The Goths have that makes them funny for most RR fans but boring and a little annoying for me is this running gag in which The Goths say they are happy/excited/any positive emotion with a monotone voice and expression to indicate otherwise.

"I've never been so happy."

"I'm so excited. First place. Wow, I could pee myself." "You just did."

"Ow" "Don't be so dramatic."

"Just wearing our happy faces for these cameras is exhaustive."

Judging by what I've written so far, you must think I hate The Goths, right?

You see, while I'm not a fan of The Goths, they do and have things that even I have to acknowledge are good/great.

Like I said, their relationship is unique because:

A) They started dating 3 years prior to RR.

B) It's one of the few stable relationships in both RR and TD.

But because the moments when they act as a couple are rare, I'm not really into their relationship. I'm not saying their relationship is bad, just underplayed.

But there are two episodes where I got invested for The Goths.

The first would be "A Tisket, a Casket, I'm Gonna Blow a Gasket" where The Goths say they're excited for going to Transylvania. as the episode progresses, The Goths act more and more like they're really excited for being in there (heck, they even smiled for a moment). I gotta say, after five episodes of them acting so emotionless, it was a fresh breath of air to see them acting like they're actually excited.

The second would be "I Love Ridonc & Roll" where The Goths' makeup is removed, thus exposing their real selves to both the viewing world and each other (and yeah, I'd be lying if I said I don't find ungothed Crimson kinda cute.). The more they freaked out (to the point of quitting the race), the more interesting they got (at least for me), but just when they were about to accept their normal selves, they go back to being their gothic selves by buying Nightmare Fuel-worthy costumes (how they could afford such costumes I'll never know) oh, and they learn that it's their inner blackness that counts (which is nice, I guess, but come, I wanted to see them start acting like normal persons with emotions, not that).

So, in conclusion. I don't hate The Goths, but don't except me to say I'm a fan of two persons who have the emotional range of a stone gargoyle (Fresh's words, not mine).

Oh, and if anyone disagree with me (which is like, what, 90% of the RR fanbase) and will try to convince me otherwise, all I have to say is:

Ultablud2 out, peace.
