Hi Questers, Quest back today with another scoresome blog for my fellow TD Questers. Now one of my main pet-peeves for the TD Series, and even though I encourage imagination and creative ideas for the series, I must admit that sometimes the quality of these fan-made & animated seasons bugs me at how bad they are. However recently I've stumbled upon an actually very well made up TD Season concept.
Now you may or may not remember a while back, somebody by the name of Jesse Gil came up with the idea for a TD Season called Total Drama: Oskayi Island. I think at that point most of us didn't really care about it whatsoever, and we were definitely right to believe that at the concept wasn't too well developed, as well as the fact that at the point a lot of us were kind of sick of fan-fiction. However as of late I've been noticed how high in quality the character designs and ideas are. In fact their so good, if I didn't know better, I'd think it was a real season. Anyways recently Jesse has released two very good quality audition tapes for two of the characters; Alex and Kimberley, of whom I'm gonna give my thoughts and opinions on here.
The character of Alex is a contestant in the upcoming fan-season known as Total Drama Oskayi Island. From the Crush TV Productions site: "Alex is the kind of guy you don't ever notice, he blends in with masses to avoid any unwanted attention and that's the way he likes it. His witty sharp personality is thanks to his large IQ that rivals some of the smartest contestants to play Total Drama.
He can think steps ahead in any strategy game but when it comes to social conversation he lacks any sort of sense of direction. He's more into just reading books and gathering information, hopefully some information on how to interact with people properly, more import to him through interacting with girls.
Alex is all around very well balanced, the only thing he really lacks is self confidence. Alex's parents signed him up for what they thought was adventure camp to maybe help him gain some self confidence, he's going on a whole other kind of adventure then they thought though".
Honestly to me this character just seems like a mixture of two different contestants from the actual Total Drama series, these being; Noah and Dave. This is clearly shown from the different aspects and personality traits that he expresses through his audition tape. The ignorance and overall ability to brag about his accomplishments is very reminiscent to that of Noah, while his social awkwardness could be related to that of Dave. I could see overall how this character may get on somebody's nerves and wouldn't really be a character that I'd pay too much attention to in the long run.
Kimberly is a contestant on Total Drama Oskayi Island; the upcoming fan-season of Total Drama. From the Crust TV Production site:"Kimberly's been smothered by her father all of her life and she's never done anything without her dad being there. Her dad literally controls every aspect of her life from the way she dresses to what kind of makeup she buys... he's sort of controlling if you haven't already guessed.
Kimberly is very naïve and innocent and hasn't really had a chance to think for herself thanks to her dad, but Kimberly is very kind and caring since she really wants people to like her.
She's beyond smart and has an excellent memory which she uses to store all her knowledge and weird assorted facts she likes to bring up in conversation.
Kimberly signed up for a Summer Fun Reality TV show but is now on her way to Total Drama. Kimberly is ecstatic to be going on the show since her dad won't be able to follow her there and she be a normal girl for once".
Kimberley reminds me a lot of Courtney's character from Total Drama, including many aspects of the character's design and mannerisms. For one both girls have high status at their different high schools, with each claiming to have done a variety of different extra-curricular activities and have earned different accolades. However there is a very clear difference between the two that has made me enjoy Kimberly more, and that is the fact that Kimberly feels like a kind-hearted version of Courtney to me, which is an absolute plus. I also like the whole background with her father's attitude towards her.
Her design is also very original, and I honestly can't wait to see her in action very soon, hopefully.
Anyways Questers, that's it for this week's review, should hopefully be able to do another next week, please do leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below, would you give this fan-season a go?, are you liking the characters so far?. Anyways as always Quest On and see ya later.
