I should have made this blog last month; however, May 22nd marked the one year anniversary of the Total Drama Minecraft project. Technically, I uploaded the first skins on the 18th; however, the project as originally intended was completed on the 22nd. I thought I would share some of my thoughts on the project.
What exactly inspired me to do the project?
I attribute the scene in "Eat, Puke and Be Wary" where Lightning punches a tree trying to get "steak". I immediately knew it was a reference to Minecraft. Also, I was the one to point this out in the episode's reference section.
Do I ever plan to make a Minecraft server based on Total Drama?
I haven't ruled it out; however, I don't have the resources to run a server. If someone wants to use my skins for such a server, I wouldn't mind it at all. All that I ask that you attribute me for my work.
Do I believe that such a server should be a Wiki activity?
Doing such a server could be considered a graphical, more interactive role-play; however, I don't believe it would be practical.
Besides the logistical problems associated with a chat based role-play, running a MC server presents its own set of issues, namely how to pay for it. Making it free access to others and paying the cost of a server myself is not feasible in the long term, and charging users for access would restrict participation. Also, every participant, whether playing or serving a technical role, would need his/her own license for the game, which costs US$27/£18/€20.
How long do I plan on supporting the TD Minecraft project?
Short answer: For as long as I can.
Did I do the project to try and become popular or get the producers' attention?
Honestly, no. In real life, I'm a very low-key person. I just wanted to share my work; whatever notoriety I gained for my work was just consequence.
As usual, if you have any questions or comments about the project, feel free to leave a message on my message wall. I don't mind negative feedback; however, please keep it constructive (e.g. no comments nitpicking about details, no trolling comments, etc.).
