Marshmallows are food items handed out by Chris in Campfire Ceremonies to represent safety from elimination in Total Drama Island, Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, Total Drama All-Stars, and Total Drama: Pahkitew Island. They are the counterparts of the Gilded Chris Awards that are present in Total Drama Action and the barf bags in Total Drama World Tour. At the Campfire Ceremony, Chris will typically hand out marshmallows to everyone present minus the eliminated contestant. The contestant who does not receive a marshmallow must then exit the competition.
Total Drama Island
The marshmallows are introduced at the campfire ceremony in Not So Happy Campers - Part 2. In every ceremony this season except No Pain, No Game, Chris stands behind an oil drum with a plate full of marshmallows and hands them out to the safe campers.
In The Very Last Episode, Really!, the final marshmallow is given as a symbol of ultimate survival to Gwen or Owen, depending on the ending. In Owen's ending, he claims he will treasure the final marshmallow for the rest of his life before deciding to eat it, insisting that he can buy all the marshmallows he wants now.
Total Drama Action
Marshmallows are not given out as a sign of safety (having been replaced by the Gilded Chris Award), but make an appearance as boxing gloves used by Harold and Lindsay in Million Dollar Babies. During their boxing match, Lindsay eats a part of Harold's marshmallow. Duncan later uses these marshmallows to fight the bear in Mutiny on the Soundstage.
Total Drama World Tour
As a tribute to season one, Chris decides to hand out marshmallows during the elimination ceremony in Awwwwww, Drumheller.

The marshmallows once again reappear as the symbol of safety this season, with a toxic marshmallow being given to the eliminated camper. The marshmallow is also seen at the start of Bigger! Badder! Brutal-er! inside a space satellite.
Total Drama All-Stars
Marshmallows are used as the symbol of safety at the elimination ceremonies in the first three episodes this season. From Food Fright and onwards, Chris simply reveals who has been eliminated.
Total Drama: Pahkitew Island
Marshmallows reappear this season as the symbol of safety during elimination ceremonies. In Scarlett Fever, however, Chris pelts Scarlett with the marshmallows instead of handing them to the safe contestants. Moments after, Max is disqualified and shoved into the Cannon of Shame with Scarlett, his mouth gagged with marshmallows.
