Forum: Roleplay Reborn > Roleplay Reborn/Audition process

This forum describes the audition process for users who are interviewing for a role in Roleplay Reborn. Keywords have been highlighted in green font for your convenience.

Pre-audition

Read rules

The first step to joining a roleplay is reading both the wiki's rules and the Roleplay Reborn guidelines. Breaking any of these rules will result in a consequence.

Make a userpage

After reading the rules, make sure you have a userpage. Most userpages typically include several sentences about the author and their favorite to least favorite Total Drama characters. If you do not have a userpage, you will not be allowed to participate in Roleplay Reborn.

Before auditioning, make sure to sign up for the roleplay through a sign-up forum created by a Roleplay Reborn leader. After signing up, a staff member will contact you on your Message Wall and give you an audition time. Please make sure to reply to this message at least 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule.

Create an audition tape and confessional

As soon as you sign up, write an audition tape and opening confessional and post it on your userpage or a userpage extension; the audition judges will not visit off-wiki sites. An audition tape should be at least ten sentences long and include some of the character's backstory. Ideally, they should resemble the contestants' audition tapes from Total Drama.

An opening confessional is a character's first confessional of the series and should be a minimum of seven sentences. If you have more than one character, each one must have their own separate audition tape and opening confessional. These narratives have no required format and users can feel free to write them in any point of view.

Show up

Read how to access the Internet Relay Chat and prepare to show up at least five minutes early for your audition. Your audition will begin when a judge gives you the name of your audition room; this room name is private and should not be disclosed to anyone. If you are absent for your audition, you must provide a valid reason to why you did not show up. If the judges decide to reschedule your audition, make sure to arrive early for the next one.

Peri-audition

Introduce yourself

As soon as you arrive into your audition room, you must state your full username and the name of the character(s) you are trying out for. Typically, auditions only last for 10-20 minutes so it is important to remain attentive and respond quickly during your interview.

Answer questions

During your audition, the judges will ask you a range of questions about yourself and your character(s). These questions are intended to help the Roleplay Reborn leaders familiarize themselves with you, and they should not compromise your identity in any way. Studying up on your character(s) beforehand is advised as some questions may quiz you on your character knowledge.

Provide links

Once the questions are finished, you will be asked to provide a link to your audition tape and opening confessional. The judges will refer to these after your audition ends so make sure not to remove anything until roles have been distributed.

Participate in a scene

Your final task in the audition will be to perform as your character in an improvised two-person scene with a partner. This partner will be a user selected by the judges, and they will be playing a randomized contestant from the Total Drama series. It is essential to stay in-character and follow the roleplay's guidelines until the audition judges end your scene.

Exit

After your audition ends, you are expected to exit the chatroom. If you are auditioning for more than one character, you will repeat the audition process and then leave.

Post-audition

Be patient

Once your audition is over, you must wait an extended period of time to find out if you have gotten the part. Actors should remember that other people may still be trying out; therefore, be as patient as possible.

Check your Message Wall

Make sure to frequently check your Message Wall. You will eventually get notified to whether or not you are participating in the roleplay. Often, users are rejected but given the part of an understudy. Remember that you can always audition again for a future roleplay season if you are rejected.

Maintain activity level

If you are accepted into the roleplay, you must maintain activity on the wiki. This does not mean you have to edit but logging on several times a week will guarantee you do not miss any important memos regarding the roleplay. Be sure to check the current news and events and your Message Wall for information about the season, and feel free to ask as many questions as you want to the leaders.
