The episode begins with a chipmunk waking up in its home in a tree. It takes a sip of coffee before the camera pans to Leshawna leaving her trailer after a good night's sleep. Meanwhile, Gwen and Trent are hanging out together on the dock. Gwen is sitting by a tree, drawing a picture of him. Trent, who has just climbed out of the water and onto the dock after a swim, asks Gwen what she is drawing, calling her "beautiful". She replies, "Nothing!" and shyly hides her sketch pad from him. A hidden camera reveals that the drawing is a sketch of a shirtless Trent.
I absolutely positively don't have a crush on Trent. I'm so over it! I mean, come on, sure for a week or two I was into him, but I mean—
”
The scene then cuts to Chris in a pirate costume firing a cannon, then quickly covering his ears. The cannonball hits Leshawna's trailer and destroys it, much to her surprise and disappointment. He then announces in a stereotypical pirate accent that all campers must report to the amphitheater for their next challenge. The campers enter the amphitheater, including Leshawna, dragging her charred luggage behind her. Chris, still in the pirate costume and accent, begins to describe the challenge, saying it will be a "good old-fashioned treasure hunt". Gwen groans at the idea while Chris continues. He explains that the treasure hunt "has a twist", in that what they are looking for is not hidden and is not treasure, prompting Duncan to ask why he is dressed as a pirate if there is no treasure. Chris tells him that he asked a good question, and then explains that they will be looking for keys to treasure chests containing prizes. Chef holds out a bucket and invites them to take clues from it.
The campers do so while Chris explains that the clues they choose will have a drawing that will give them a clue as to where their key is hidden in the camp. Owen reveals that he picked the clue with a picture of a bear, something he is extremely intimidated by. Chris interjects by saying that he was hoping Owen would get that clue. Chris then looks at Heather's clue, which is of Chef's refrigerator. Chris then tells her that Chef cleans it every day for fingerprints, which makes her feel even more intimidated. Geoff looks at his clue in confusion, and Chris helps him out by revealing that his clue refers to the communal washrooms' septic tank. Chris then tells the group to find their keys and return with them by "6:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time", causing the campers to disperse.
Woohoo! I am all about the treasure hunt! Yes! The bears are a little concerning, but there's treasure!
”
Next, Trent is shown working to retrieve his key from the man-eating shark-infested lake. He manages to lure the sharks away from the pole holding the key by throwing a fish far out into the lake, before diving in and quickly retrieving it. Gwen, who had been watching nervously the whole time, smiles and blushes as Trent leaves the lake, calling his challenge "too easy".
Meanwhile, Heather is shown trying to get her key out of Chef's refrigerator. She nervously enters the kitchen and walks over to the refrigerator, trying to open it unnoticed. She finds Chef inside, holding an unusually large cleaver knife and staring at her menacingly as the door is opened. Scared and surprised, she slowly steps out of the kitchen, closing the door behind her.
Gwen is then seen trying to retrieve her key from a skunk pit. She watches from a distance, covering her nose and groaning at the thought of dealing with the skunks. Trent then confronts her and asks about her well-being. She replies that the skunks "totally freak her out," to which Trent offers to help her since he already has his key. She declares her challenge "practically impossible" until Trent comes up with the brilliant idea of pouring water down the hole and flushing them out, which he does successfully. Gwen then asks if skunks can swim, and when Trent confirms that they can, she responds with a dreamy "cool". The couple then exchange smiles. Meanwhile, Lindsay is seen helping Heather with her challenge by lowering her through a rope into Chef's kitchen while Chef is sleeping. Heather slides down unseen and grabs her key. Lindsay is slowly being pulled back up by the rope when she notices a bug and lets go of the rope. Heather screams in shock and drops her key, which she just manages to grab before she and Lindsay regain the rope. Surprisingly, Chef is not awakened by Heather's outburst, and she is able to leave the kitchen while still holding the key.
Trent and Gwen are then shown laughing together as they put Trent's plan to flush the skunks out of their hole into action. Their plan works perfectly, allowing Gwen to remove her key from the hole.
That was moderately cool of Trent to help me avoid the skunks. He's okay. Okay, he's more than okay. He's so incredible! But…don't tell anyone I said that.
The fact that Gwen is so smart and independent, coupled with the fact that she's incredible to look at, is just making me nuts. She rocks my world. So yeah, I'll take a skunk shot for her any day.
”
They then show Gwen and Trent, both smiling at each other, standing together by the skunk pit. Gwen then rushes up to Trent and kisses him, much to Trent's surprise. Chris then asks if he "sees tongue" in Gwen and Trent's kiss, calling it a "trust-building, heartwarming" moment. The tape then continues, with Gwen and Trent smiling at each other and walking away. The camera then zooms out to show Heather and Lindsay looking on angrily.
That's just too much! Everyone knows that 'boyfriend-girlfriend' is just another way to say 'alliance,' and my alliance is gonna be the only alliance on this island!
Meanwhile, the other contestants can be seen completing their challenges:
Duncan is shown completing his challenge fairly easily, as all he has to do is retrieve his key from a flaming hoop, which seems like an easy task for him.
DJ is then shown climbing a tree and trying to remove his key from where it is tied to a branch, without much success.
Next, Geoff is seen in the communal toilets, wearing a snorkel and entering the toilet to begin his search for the septic tank.
Lindsay is seen looking in the direction of the beehive where she is supposed to find her key. Izzy then walks over to her and quietly offers to help, silently approaching the beehive. She reappears a few seconds later, holding the key but covered in bees, which start to chase Lindsay. Lindsay runs straight to the dock and jumps off to avoid the swarm of bees while Izzy wishes her luck.
Afterwards, Owen is seen trying to confront the bear, which has a key around its neck. The sleeping bear causes Owen to get trapped next to it as it wraps its arm around him while trying to quickly remove the key.
Next up is Izzy, who tries to talk to the snake she needs to get her key from. She starts to compliment it on its cuteness, but it bites her on the head, causing her to call it "feisty".
Heather walks up to her as she falls to the ground from of the snake bite and tells her that there is "no time for that now" as they have an alliance meeting to attend. Heather and Izzy are then seen on the dock with Lindsay, who has been stung by bees. Heather tells the two girls that they need to break up Trent and Gwen, and she starts telling Lindsay to write a letter to Gwen. Meanwhile, Leshawna faces her challenge, which requires her to retrieve her key from a glass hidden under a rickety bridge and between two vicious-looking crocodiles.
Lindsay is shown entering the girls' cabin with the note for Gwen. She places it on Gwen's bunk, but then hears Gwen outside the cabin, causing her to hastily hide under the bed. As Gwen reads the note, telling her to "meet Trent at the dock of shame for a little surprise", Lindsay is infested with cockroaches, causing her to bolt through the door screaming as soon as Gwen leaves the cabin.
Later, Heather and Lindsay are seen meeting behind the communal bathrooms while Geoff cries out for help looking for his key. Heather reminds Lindsay of their plan, telling her to lead Trent to her and then watch out for Gwen. Lindsay replies that she can be counted on. Heather is then shown waiting impatiently on the dock, claiming that she "knew she couldn't trust Lindsay". Soon after, Trent is led to the dock by Lindsay, where Heather quickly begins to fake crying. Trent goes over to her and asks what is wrong. She replies that Gwen has been "so mean to her" and that she "doesn't get why". Trent then replies that Gwen is just hard to get to know. Heather then wonders aloud why he is defending her when she says "horrible things about him". Trent is shocked when Heather continues to tell him that Gwen "really can't stand him", and says that Gwen thinks "his music sucks" and that she is using him to get ahead in the competition. Trent believes Heather's lies and admits that he thought he and Gwen had a real connection.
Meanwhile, Gwen approaches the dock and Lindsay sees her quickly trying to give Heather "the signal". Heather does not hear her and continues to tell Trent that he is "too nice for her to let him get used by Gwen." Lindsay then tries to warn Heather again, which she hears this time. Heather then tells Trent that she thinks he is "really talented" and kisses him. Trent looks angry and shocked at first, but then closes his eyes just as Gwen sees them. Gwen runs away in tears, falling and stomping on the card that was left for her. Trent, on the other hand, breaks the kiss between him and Heather and walks away, hitting himself on the forehead in anger. After that, Trent and Gwen are both shown in different parts of the island, letting out screams and cries of anger and frustration.
Meanwhile, Owen is shown still trying to free himself from the bear, unsuccessfully, as the bear wakes up. Gwen is then shown crying into a pillow as Leshawna enters the cabin with her key and asks what is going on. Gwen then tells Leshawna her side of the story about what happened between her, Trent and Heather. The next scene shows Leshawna running out of the cabin shouting that Heather is "so off the island". After that, Leshawna is seen telling the rest of the players who are willing to listen about what happened between Heather and Trent. Geoff, DJ, Duncan, and Bridgette are among the people she consults. Soon after, Chris is heard telling the campers that it is time to return to the campfire.
I've done my bit. I told everyone who'd listen about those two-timers. Either way, one of them is history.
”
The campers are then shown around the campfire. Geoff is shown with visible stink fumes from spending hours snorkeling in the septic tank, while Izzy still has the snake on her head that continues to bite her. Chris, still in costume, tells them it is time to claim their rewards from the chests. The campers with the keys go forward and open a chest. Duncan is given chips and a candy bar and asks if this is the best they can do, to which Chris nods. Owen is then seen not being able to open any chests with his key, which irritates him. He then demands that they do something about the bear, which has most of Owen's body in its mouth. They tranquilize the bear, but shoot Owen in the process. Gwen is then shown looking at the toaster she received, while Heather pulls out a gift basket with an "invincibility card" in it, earning her many glares. DJ and Bridgette are shown empty-handed, having failed their challenges. Trent is then shown receiving two wine-like bottles, but when he turns around, Leshawna, carrying a leg-shaped lamp as her prize, glares at him; Lindsay looks on nervously, chewing her lower lip and holding the accordion she won. Geoff is then shown receiving "Cleaver body spray," which Chris claims "cuts through the stink". Geoff seems pleased with the cologne. Chris then says he hopes the campers found the treasure they were looking for, and more, but then mentions that it is time to vote someone off the island.
Later, the campers are led through the campfire ceremony. After explaining the situation, Chris immediately makes a list of the safe campers and throws their marshmallows without pausing for the bottom two, as is customary. Trent seems relaxed, but it's not until Chris calls out, "Marshmallows for the lot of ya," with an empty plate, that Trent's mouth drops open in surprise, realizing he didn't get any. Then a sympathetic Chris informs him that he is leaving, leaving him gasping for air, while Leshawna advises him to take his "two-timing ways" off the island. Trent says he thought he could get along with everyone, until Heather tells him, "I guess you were wrong," without regret. Gwen then accuses her of not caring, to which Heather replies that she is "just playing the game". Trent then asks her why she cares, saying that he heard that she thought he was a cliché, which they then traced back to Heather. Despite what he did, Gwen admits that she did not vote him out. Trent then asks why he was voted out, to which Leshawna admits that it was her fault for telling others to target him or Heather, and Heather tells him that he was the one who was voted out because she had earned invincibility.
Trent, Gwen, and Leshawna then realize that they have been played, which makes Gwen very upset. Trent then tells her that it's okay and asks if "they" are still okay, to which Gwen replies in the affirmative. Trent then gives her a pep talk, telling her that he'll be cheering for her all the way home, and they try to kiss again, but Chris breaks it up. After a sad goodbye from everyone but Heather, Heather leaves to take a shower. In an effort to get back at Heather, Leshawna rearranges the pipes in the shower, resulting in Heather being covered in sewage. Heather screams and the camera zooms out, ending the episode with Leshawna walking away happy.
This is the first elimination ceremony where Chris does not stop handing out marshmallows to announce the bottom two campers, but instead hands them out all at once.
It is also the second unconventional elimination in a row, as the previous episode lacked marshmallows and relied on confessional footage to determine votes.
Although the teams have been merged, when Chris explains the challenge, the contestants sit with their former teammates:
Bridgette, DJ, Geoff and Duncan on the left as former Killer Bass.
Heather, Lindsay, Gwen, Trent, Owen and Leshawna on the right as former Screaming Gophers.

This episode title is a parody of the military strategy "Search and Destroy".
The vicious killer rabbit guarding Bridgette's key in this episode is a reference to the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog guarding the Holy Grail in the famous 1975 comedy film, Monty Python and The Holy Grail.
The leg lamp that Leshawna received from the treasure chest is a prop from the famous 1983 Christmas comedy, A Christmas Story.
Goofs[]
Izzy is missing while Chris explains the challenge, but reappears after the campers pick up their clues.
When Geoff gets his clue, the image on the plank is black and white. Later, when he is in the bathroom and the shot zooms in on the scene, the image is in color.
When Izzy finds the snake, it has a rattle (indicating that it is a rattlesnake), but later the rattle is missing.
In this episode, DJ is afraid of heights, but in the next episode, he climbs onto a roof and shows no fear. He may have overcome this fear off-screen in that episode.
When Duncan asks what they are looking for, his nose piercing is missing.
When DJ is first shown climbing the tree with the key, the branch is curved and bent and the key is very close to arm's reach, but a few seconds later when he is on it, it is straight and the key is further away.
At the beginning of the Campfire Ceremony, Chris only has nine marshmallows, even though ten campers will be safe.
However, this may be due to the fact that Heather has already won an immunity pass with a marshmallow picture on it.
Also, when he starts handing them out, he only has eight marshmallows.
Lindsay is seen with a reward after the challenge, though she claims to have lost her key earlier in the episode.
When everyone is at the Dock of Shame following Trent's elimination, Duncan is layered over Geoff and Izzy, even though his feet are slightly above theirs, making it seem as if he should've been standing behind them. Furthermore, it makes it seem as if he was standing on Geoff's feet.
